CVE-2022-22786Network attack vector

Software downgrade via unchecked installation version

Published May 18, 2022 · Updated Jun 2, 2026

Improper update validation in Zoom Windows clients before 5.10.0 allows remote attackers to downgrade the software via an update package. The Windows updater accepts an installation package without properly comparing its version with the installed release. Exploitation requires user interaction and a sophisticated attack chain; the immediate result is installation of an older, less secure client.
