Sensitive message disclosure via failed local deletion
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Improper message deletion in Keybase Clients before 5.9.0 allows remote attackers to leave exploded chat content on a recipient's filesystem. The client fails to remove an exploded message when the recipient leaves chat for another feature and the host sleeps before sender-triggered deletion. Exploitation requires control of the exploding message and the described timing, while disclosure requires later access to the recipient's filesystem.
