CVE-2022-2275Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Post deletion via nonce-free AJAX action

Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in WP Edit Menu before 1.5.0 allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary posts or pages via a forged AJAX request. The filter_menu AJAX action accepts attacker-chosen val[] post identifiers and performs deletion without validating a WordPress nonce. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit or visit attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated consequence is deletion of selected posts or pages.
