Stored XSS via forged quote-management request
Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in SedLex Simple Quotation 1.3.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script via a forged quote-management request. The WordPress admin endpoint accepts the author and newquotes POST fields without a CSRF token or sanitization and later emits the stored values without escaping. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit the attacker's form, after which the payload runs when the malicious quote is rendered.
