CVE-2022-22719Network attack vector

Unauthenticated process crash via ignored body-read failure

Published Mar 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Denial of service in mod_lua in Apache HTTP Server 2.4.52 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash worker processes via crafted request bodies. In lua_request.c, r:parsebody continues after request-body read or write failure and uses an uninitialized value in a random-memory read. Exploitation requires mod_lua and a reachable Lua handler that calls r:parsebody; the documented consequence is a process crash, not data disclosure.
