Stored XSS via unescaped FTP settings
Published Sep 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Database Backup before 5.9 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute scripts in a viewer's browser. Destination FTP settings are stored without escaping, so a crafted attribute value executes when the Destination settings page is reopened. The issue is reachable only when unfiltered_html is disabled, including on WordPress multisite installations, and affects browser-session confidentiality and integrity.
