Arbitrary file write via path traversal
Published Feb 7, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in Synology DSM before 7.0.1-42218-2 allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files through support service management. Synology has not disclosed the affected support-service component or how attacker-controlled pathnames escape the intended directory. Administrative privileges are required, and successful exploitation can overwrite files outside the restricted location, affecting data confidentiality and integrity without a reported service interruption.
