Kernel code execution via AMD use-after-free
Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in the AMD component of Apple macOS before 12.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple has not disclosed the affected AMD routine or the operation that reuses freed memory, only that memory management is defective. A local user must first run an application; successful exploitation then grants kernel-level code execution with system-wide impact.
