CVE-2022-22660

UI spoofing via missing entitlement enforcement

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

UI spoofing in System Preferences in Apple macOS before 12.3 allows local users to imitate system notifications and interface elements. System Preferences permits an app to present system-like notifications and UI without the entitlement required by the corrected design. A locally launched app and user interaction are required, and the bounded consequence is deceptive interface content rather than data disclosure or service interruption.
