Code execution via improperly initialized MIDI parser
Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper initialization in GarageBand MIDI in Apple macOS before 12.3 allows attackers to crash the application or execute code via a crafted MIDI file. The MIDI parser uses improperly initialized memory while opening attacker-controlled MIDI data; public sources do not identify the responsible function or field. A user must open the crafted file, after which code executes in the affected application's context or the application terminates unexpectedly.
