CVE-2022-22648

Information disclosure via SCPT out-of-bounds read

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

An out-of-bounds read in Apple macOS allows context-dependent attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted SCPT file. The AppleScript framework parses crafted SCPT data past the end of an allocated data structure, exposing adjacent restricted memory. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and the disclosed data is limited to process memory.
