Passcode prompt bypass via undisclosed Phone checks
Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 15.4 and watchOS before 8.5 allows local users to bypass the Emergency SOS passcode prompt. Apple identifies the Phone component and improved checks but has not published which passcode-validation operation accepts an unauthorized request. Access requires interaction with the device, and the documented consequence is limited to skipping the Emergency SOS prompt.
