Privilege escalation in PackageKit in Apple macOS allows local users to obtain elevated privileges through incorrect state handling. Apple identifies the defect only as a logic issue corrected through improved state management and has not disclosed the faulty transition, function, or attacker-controlled input. Execution of an application is required; a public demonstration used the flaw as a local privilege-escalation stage in a larger one-click compromise chain.
