Code execution via out-of-bounds file parsing
Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in otool in Apple Xcode before 13.3 allows attackers to crash the application or execute code via a crafted file. otool parses attacker-controlled file data without adequate bounds checking, causing a read beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the file; successful attacks terminate the application or run code in that user’s context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
