Service interruption via forged statistics export
Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in GiveWP before 2.21.3 allows remote attackers to exhaust the web server's CPU through a forged export. The can_export function accepts donation-statistics export requests without valid nonce verification and fails to constrain date parameters, causing repeated database retrievals. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to visit or submit attacker-controlled content; the resulting resource exhaustion interrupts the WordPress service.
