CVE-2022-22594Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-origin tracking via replicated IndexedDB names

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-origin data exposure in WebKit Storage allows remote attackers to track users through a website on affected Apple systems. WebKit creates an empty IndexedDB database with the same name in every active frame, tab, and window, letting another origin enumerate site-specific database names. Viewing attacker-controlled web content in the same browser session exposes visited-site signals and, when a database name embeds an account identifier, identity-linked information; database contents are not reported as exposed.
