Kernel buffer overflow in Apple operating systems allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges via a malicious application. Apple identifies the locus only as the Kernel component and states that improper memory handling causes the overflow; no finer operation or public patch diff is disclosed. Execution requires a user to run a malicious application, after which attacker-controlled code gains kernel privileges and can compromise the device.
