CVE-2022-22584

Information disclosure via ColorSync ICC parser over-read

Published Mar 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Apple ColorSync allows attackers to disclose process data when an affected device parses a crafted ICC file. The ICC image parser insufficiently validates user-controlled data, allowing a read past the end of an allocated buffer; Apple describes broader memory corruption and code execution. Exploitation requires a malicious page or file and user interaction, while code execution requires chaining the read with another vulnerability.
