CVE-2022-22533Network attack vector

System shutdown via unreleased MPI memory buffers

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Memory exhaustion in SAP NetWeaver AS Java kernel releases 7.22, 7.22EXT, 7.49, and 7.53 allows remote attackers to force shutdown. Improper error handling for repeated malformed HTTP requests fails to release MPI memory buffers, eventually consuming all MPI resources. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure of an AS Java HTTP(S) port enables a sustained service interruption through shutdown.
