Privilege escalation via SSH role misassignment
Published Feb 2, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Incorrect privilege assignment in Phoenix Contact FL SWITCH 2xxx firmware 3.00 allows remote authenticated users to gain administrative access via SSH. The SSH CLI assigns every logged-in user to the administrator role regardless of the access role configured in device user management. A valid low-privilege account and network reachability to SSH are required, after which the user gains full access to the device configuration.
