CVE-2022-22475Network attack vector

Account impersonation via brute-forced LTPA token key

Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Identity spoofing in IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 17.0.0.3 through 22.0.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate other users. The LTPA token design permits brute-force extraction of the token encryption key and accepts a replacement username in a forged token. Exploitation requires an affected appSecurity feature and authenticated access; the forged identity receives the target user's application privileges.
