Denial of service in IBM Spectrum Protect Client 8.1.0.0 through 8.1.14.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt client operations. The dsmcad, dsmc, and dsmcsvc processes incorrectly handle certain reads from TCP/IP sockets, making affected client operations unavailable. No authentication or user interaction is required, but IBM rates attack complexity high and reports availability impact only.
