HSM service interruption via malformed local requests
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Improper input validation in IBM CCA for MTM 4767 5.0.0 through 5.7.11 allows local users to interrupt HSM service. The HSM request-processing path insufficiently validates specially crafted requests and places an affected 4767 into a check-stop condition. An HSM user with local low-level privileges can trigger the condition, which halts HSM availability until manual recovery.
