Heap-based buffer overflow in IBM Security Verify Password Synchronization Plug-in 10.x allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. The Governance-mode XML sanitizer allocates credential output buffers without room for the terminating null byte when every input character expands into a quote entity. An authenticated account can submit an embedded-null password that passes Active Directory complexity checks but reaches the sanitizer as a truncated all-quote string, causing an off-by-one heap overwrite and service interruption.
