CVE-2022-22305

Traffic interception via certificate hostname mismatch

Published Sep 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 27, 2024

Improper certificate validation in FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiSandbox allows attackers to intercept external-peer traffic. The peer-certificate check does not properly ensure that the certificate hostname matches the intended external peer. Exploitation requires unauthenticated network-adjacent positioning and enables traffic disclosure or modification without interrupting service.
