CVE-2022-22300Network attack vector

Password-change policy bypass via client-side enforcement

Published Mar 1, 2022 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

Improper privilege handling in FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer 5.6.0 through 7.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to force password changes. The password-change workflow relies on client-side policy enforcement, so the device accepts a forced password-change action without applying the configured device policy. An authenticated account is required, and the impact is limited to an unauthorized password change for that account.
