CVE-2022-2230Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unsanitized deployment key title

Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored cross-site scripting in GitLab CE/EE 14.4 through 15.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser. The project settings deployment-key title is inserted into a jQuery-generated dropdown as HTML without escaping, so a crafted title executes when a maintainer opens the protected-branches selector. The attacker must be able to add a deployment key and induce a project maintainer to view the settings page; the script can issue requests with that victim's session authority.
