CVE-2022-22279Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via relative path traversal

Published Apr 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Relative path traversal in SonicWall SMA 100 firmware 9.0.0.9-26sv and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files. The /cgi-bin/sslvpnclient endpoint accepts a crafted file path and returns persist.db, exposing settings.json data containing usernames, encrypted passwords, and TOTP secrets. Valid appliance credentials are required; the disclosed authentication material enables account impersonation and multifactor-authentication bypass.
