FPC reboot via continuous MAC moves
Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated May 9, 2025
Memory corruption in the PFE of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows attackers to crash and reboot one or more FPCs. Continuous MAC moves between two local interfaces, or between a core or EVPN interface and a local interface, corrupt PFE memory. Exploitation requires adjacent access and an affected bridge domain with two local interfaces, or one local interface and EVPN MPLS, and interrupts packet forwarding while FPCs reboot.
