CVE-2022-22236Network attack vector

Unauthenticated PFE crash via SIP ALG pointer

Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated May 10, 2025

Access of Uninitialized Pointer in Juniper Networks Junos OS allows remote attackers to cause a PFE crash and restart via specific valid SIP packets. The SIP Application Layer Gateway processes the packet and dereferences an uninitialized pointer, causing the packet-forwarding engine to fail. The gate is unauthenticated network access with SIP ALG enabled on an SRX or MX device; impact is a denial of service from PFE restart, without reported confidentiality or integrity loss.
