Partial service interruption via misrouted IPv6 transit traffic
Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated May 12, 2025
Improper exception handling in Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to cause a partial service interrupt via IPv6 transit traffic. The Packet Forwarding Engine sends specially formed IPv6 transit packets to the Routing Engine instead of forwarding them, increasing Routing Engine CPU use. Exposure requires IPv6 on an ACX7100-48L, ACX7100-32C, or ACX7509; the resulting degradation is partial rather than a full device outage.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
