CVE-2022-22224

Sustained routing outage via malformed OSPF TLV

Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated May 12, 2025

Improper exceptional-condition handling in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows attackers to sustain a routing-service outage. PPMD fails to terminate processing of a malformed OSPF TLV, enters an infinite loop, and disrupts OSPF reachability and other dependent functions until the daemon is manually restarted. OSPF must be enabled, and the attacker must have adjacent-network access; no authentication or user interaction is required.
