Authenticated arbitrary file download via path validation failure
Published Jul 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Files or directories accessible to external parties in WPChill Download Monitor before 4.5.91 allow remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. The download handler fails to constrain requested paths to blog directories or reject sensitive files, permitting retrieval of wp-config.php, /etc/passwd, and similar data. Administrator-level privileges are required; impact is confidential-data disclosure without integrity or availability effects.
