RPD crash via unexpected EVPN route data
Published Oct 18, 2022 · Updated May 12, 2025
Improper EVPN route handling in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash RPD with a BGP update. RPD mishandles an unexpected data type while processing a specific EVPN route carried in the update, causing the daemon to terminate. Exploitation requires control of a BGP client connected to an EVPN multicast route reflector or a man-in-the-middle position, plus leave-sync-route-oldstyle on at least one client; repeated routes sustain the service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
