CVE-2022-22216

Adjacent memory disclosure via uninitialized Ethernet padding

Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Information disclosure in the PFE of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows adjacent unauthenticated attackers to read residual packet data. Affected Packet Forwarding Engines sometimes transmit short Ethernet frames without reliably initializing the padding, exposing fragments of system memory or earlier packets. Access to the same network segment is required, and the bounded consequence is passive disclosure from packets emitted by affected PTX or QFX devices.
