CVE-2022-22185Network attack vector

Denial of service via fragmented packet flowd crash

Published Apr 14, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Improper exception handling in Junos OS on SRX Series affected releases allows remote attackers to interrupt flowd with a fragmented packet. The flowd daemon mishandles a specific fragmented packet when preserve-incoming-fragment-size is enabled, causing the packet-forwarding process to crash. An unauthenticated network attacker can repeatedly send the packet to sustain a denial-of-service condition; the issue does not affect Junos OS before 17.3R1.
