Traffic interruption via IPv6 Packet DMA exhaustion
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Denial of service in Juniper Networks Junos OS on affected EX switches allows remote attackers to interrupt traffic with specific IPv6 packets. The IPv6 packet path progressively consumes Packet DMA heap and does not handle its exhaustion before the device becomes unstable. No authentication is required; sustained exploitation stops forwarding or crashes the fxpc process.
