CVE-2022-22178Network attack vector

PIC reboot via crafted SIP INVITE

Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Juniper Networks Junos OS flowd allows remote attackers to reboot a PIC with a crafted SIP INVITE. Juniper has not disclosed the exact flowd parsing operation that overwrites the stack buffer. SIP ALG must be enabled, and repeated packets sustain the outage by crashing flowd and dropping all traffic through the PIC.
