Adjacent DHCP denial of service via malformed requests
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper input validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS allows adjacent unauthenticated attackers to crash jdhcpd with a malformed DHCP request. When option 82 is configured, jdhcpd accepts a specifically malformed request instead of rejecting its invalid syntax and crashes. Exposure requires DHCP snooping or dhcp-security with option 82 configured; repeated packets sustain DHCP service unavailability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
