Flowd crash via concurrent SIP message processing
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper locking in the SIP ALG of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows remote attackers to crash flowd with concurrent SIP messages. Juniper has not disclosed which lock or shared resource the SIP ALG mishandles while flowd processes simultaneous messages. SIP ALG must be enabled, implicitly or by configuration; continued receipt of the packets sustains the service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=20.4 <20.4R3-S1
- Affected versionversion=21.1 <21.1R2-S2, 21.1R3
