CVE-2022-22167Network attack vector

Unauthorized network access via dropped JDPI classification

Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows remote attackers to bypass JDPI policy enforcement. JDPI classifies out-of-state asymmetric TCP flows as UNKNOWN but fails to pass that classification to the policy module, so the permissive pre-id-default-policy continues forwarding traffic. The flaw is reachable only when no-syn-check is enabled and grants access to networks or resources that policy should deny.
