SSRF via hostname misparsing in URL authority
Published Jun 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SSRF in Ionică Bizău parse-url before 7.0.0 allows remote attackers to bypass hostname filters using a crafted URL. The parseUrl function mishandles username and password delimiters, reporting the entire authority as the resource instead of the actual destination hostname. Exploitation requires a consuming server to trust that resource value for access control and then fetch the original URL, exposing loopback or internal services.
