CVE-2022-22143Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Prototype pollution via unchecked parentKey traversal

Published May 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Prototype pollution in Mozilla Convict before 6.2.2 allows attackers to alter object prototypes through crafted configuration keys. The set method splits a dotted key, resolves parentKey with walk(), and writes childKey without rejecting proto or constructor.prototype paths. Exploitation requires an application or administrator to supply an attacker-influenced key, after which inherited properties can be injected or overwritten and the process can crash.
