Process crash via non-string indexOfSkip arguments
Published Jun 17, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Denial of service in Magic Len Fast String Search 1.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash Node.js processes via non-string input. The indexOfSkip binding accepts numeric arguments; its calculations on those inputs lead V8 to read disallowed memory and segfault. Any network service that passes attacker-controlled values to the library can be interrupted without authentication or user interaction.
