Administrator account takeover via unchecked password update
Published Jan 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Bottelet DaybydayCRM and Flarepoint CRM 2.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to take over administrator accounts. UsersController::update accepts a submitted password for the selected user without verifying that the caller owns that account or has an Administrator or Owner role. An application account with update-user permission is required; changing an administrator's password grants access as that administrator.
