CVE-2022-2210

Memory corruption via invalid diff-block offset

Published Jun 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in Vim before 8.2.5164 allows local users to corrupt memory by inducing a victim to run a crafted script. diff_mark_adjust_tp retains a nonzero offset when every line in a diff block is deleted, leaving invalid diff-block values after buffer manipulation. The established consequence is invalid memory access; exploitation requires a victim to run an untrusted file in script mode.
