Information disclosure via certificate length check
Published Sep 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer over-read in Qualcomm Snapdragon allows remote attackers to read adjacent memory via a crafted server certificate. The server-certificate parser performs an improper length check before reading certificate data, allowing an out-of-bounds read across numerous Snapdragon platform lines and listed chipsets. Exploitation requires network delivery of a malicious certificate to a component that parses server certificates; the documented impact is primarily memory disclosure with a lesser risk of service interruption, and no write or code-execution effect is reported.
