CVE-2022-22057Public exploit

Root access via graphics fence use-after-free

Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Use-after-free in the Qualcomm Snapdragon KGSL driver allows local users on affected devices to gain root through graphics timeline ioctls. The kgsl_timeline fence list holds dma_fence objects without increasing their reference counts, so a fence can be freed while kgsl_ioctl_timeline_destroy still traverses and signals it. An untrusted application can race timeline destruction against fence release, replace the freed kernel object, execute kernel code, and disable SELinux.
