CVE-2022-21993Network attack vector

Kernel-memory disclosure via uninitialized XDR output

Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025

Information disclosure in Microsoft Windows Services for NFS allows remote attackers to read kernel memory through crafted ONCRPC XDR traffic. The ONCRPC XDR driver returns uninitialized output containing kernel-memory contents to a user-mode process instead of restricting output to initialized response data. Network reachability of an installed Services for NFS component is required; the reported consequence is memory disclosure only, without modification or service interruption.
