Physical code execution via crafted ReFS volume
Published Jan 11, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025
Code execution in Microsoft Windows ReFS allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted ReFS volume. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected parser locus, malformed structure, or incorrect operation performed on that input. Exploitation requires presenting the volume to the system; successful execution can compromise data and interrupt the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
